This is what she told herself as, rather than braking, she put her foot to the floor and willed the car forwards. They’ll brake, she thought.
The force of the impact jolted her head to the side, enough to crack her neck and as she collided with the hedge, she couldn’t make it.
A drabble is a story in exactly 100 words – can you do it?

Here’s something really weird.
When I see your post in the wp reader, it starts out with something like “I like the brevity of microfiction and even more the extreme brevity of the humble drabble. There’s a skill to crafting a story in 100 words. Can you do it?“
But when I come to your site actual, all I see is the drabble itself and those sentences aren’t to be seen anywhere. Do you have any idea what might be going on?

I think it might be when you can add an excerpt to provide a short summary of what you want your reader to get snagged by. A bit like a tweet. It’s what goes on social media too, I think.

Ahhh, yeah, that’s got to be it. I never use them and nobody I know uses them, so I haven’t seen them “out in the wild”, as it were. Good to learn something new 🙂

There’s not too many of my posts that I’d consider using an excerpt for, to be honest. Plus, I don’t want to encourage people to “read the cliff notes” version 😉

It’s a wordpress thing. It doesn’t always put replies where it is supposed to. It’s annoying and random and there’s nothing us (the end user) can fix. And “help” just ignores the issue and blames the user, so I’ve given up on it. I just look at comment threads now, just in case 🙂
